In review of my personal assessment in unit 3 - I
will continue to score my overall assessment as an 8. I am a perfectionist so that is why I tend to
be hard on myself wanting to do the best at all times. I have made progress
toward my goals. I have and will continue with daily meditation practice,
walking daily, and trying to continue learn yoga. This class has helped me with
my weight issue and ways to deal with stress. With that said it has not only
been an education in how to help as a health care provider but also an experience
to learn new ways of experiencing life challenges. I have learned was to decrease
my cholesterol levels, lost weight and learned to manage different areas of my
life. I try to deal with life as it comes but seem to internalize my emotions
and stress so it was causing health issue. After going through this class and
learning different techniques my cholesterol level has decreased. This class has given me more knowledge to help
clients as well as others that I will encounter in the future. The most
difficult part has been implementing the techniques but once starting it has
been easier. In learning and implementing these steps or practices in my
everyday live has shown me that it is indeed a challenge. We as professionals must have patience with
others in helping them to achieve their goals of ultimate health.
I can relate completely with being a perfectionist. It can be a blessing and it can be a curse at times. I always try to do the best work that I can possibly do therefore it takes me more time to finish tasks than it would others. But I know that I did it right the first time which keeps me from worrying that I did not complete something correctly. I am right around an 8 in all areas as well. But since unit 3 I have gained a point or two in all areas. I have implemented the subtle mind exercise into my everyday life as a priority. I have always had a hard time getting the thoughts in my mind to calm down enough to get to sleep and eliminating the senseless chatter before trying to rest is a must for me. That is wonderful that you have made progress towards your goals. Being physically active has such a positive effect on my physical well-being as well as mental well-being. That is wonderful that your cholesterol level has decreased. I hope you continue to grow and implement the knowledge we have learned throughout this course in your life.

My numbers stayed pretty much the same as well but I think it was maybe just to early to re evaluate, at least in my case. I do see growth in all categories in the near future I just think that it was bad timing to try to really really grow in those areas. I loved trying them and I did incorporate many things I learned into my everyday life already but with not having three classes next term and I started a new job, the near future should be a lot easier to try these things out and succeed. Good luck in your future health and wellness!

ReplyDeleteA journey of a thousand miles starts with one step and I believe that this class has made us walk more than one step and therefore we are well on our way to integral health. There is no journey that does not have its ups and downs but when all is said and done, those who walk through the ups and downs will make it. I like the journal idea that you have set for yourselves and other strategies. Being accountable to yourself will go a long way in helping maintain the focus. I wish you all the best and above all, may the peace of God that surpasses all human undestanding fill your heart and soul. All the best.
I too feel as if I have really learned how to control the level of stress in my life. I think that has got to be the biggest benefit that I have received from taking this course. I had always assumed that the high level of stress in my life was because of events and incidences out of my control, but now I can see that the majority of the stress that i was feeling was due to my own personal reactions to my events and surroundings. I think this is a valuable lesson for everyone to learn, because once we can control how stress effects us, we can have greater control over our health. Great job and good luck with your next semester!
